College Planning
Students - Visit our NOHS Counseling CANVAS page and your SCOIR account for info about visiting colleges, applying to college, and writing essays.
At NOHS we want to help ALL of our students work towards their post-secondary goals. If a four year college is a stepping stone in achieving that goal, we want to provide support to help our students throughout the college application process. But college means more than the 4 year university in the next town - we use it to describe any type of education our kids experience after they graduate from high school. Post-secondary education could be a traditional four or two year college/university, a technical college/school or a specialized training program. College can be for everyone.
*The college admission process brings up lots of new terms, making people feel like they need a college admissions dictionary. To help our families navigate the college admission vocabulary, we have created a cheat sheet to help you process all of the new terms.
Military Service Academies
These schools follow a different timeline for admission that begins for most students in their junior year. One of our local members of the US Congress prepared this brochure outlining the process.
