Parent Resources

Here are some some useful resources for finding and applying to college.

College Application Timeline is a good timeline for both students and parents. Please note, this timeline has students not starting applications until November. Early action deadlines in Georgia are often earlier than that. We like for students to try to complete applications by Thanksgiving.

https://www.fairopportunityproject.org/ is the most detailed college application guide we have seen. You can either download the entire guide or use the menu across the top to go through each of the modules step by step.

If your student has taken AP tests, been involved in Dual Enrollment, or plan to start college at one school and transfer to another, you may want to check out GTRACS at https://www.gatracs.org/. This website will show transfer equivalencies for the state of Georgia and what credit qualifying scores on AP tests can earn.

UGA and GaTech both have excellent admissions blogs that often have great advice applicable to all students, even if they aren't applying to these two schools.
